The programme for the annual conference GXFS Connect taking place on 5 and 6 September 2023 in Berlin is now public: In discussion panels, keynotes and through networking opportunities, participants will exchange experiences and know-how on the advancements of Gaia-X e.g. through exchange with the Gaia-X funded projects and lighthouse projects. Participants will also learn about GXFS implementation strategies.
GXFS Connect enters the next level at Villa Elisabeth! This year’s programme brings first-hand information on how Gaia-X Federation Services (GXFS) implementations are progressing and how the establishment of Gaia-X Federations is succeeding.
In the opening panel, Ernst Stöckl-Pukall, Head of Division for Digitalisation and Industry 4.0 at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Andreas Weiss, Managing Director of eco – Association of the Internet Industry, Roland Fadrany, COO of the Gaia-X AISBL, and Susanne Dehmel, Board Member at Bitkom, will discuss the current state of Gaia-X and the future of data-based value creation in Europe.
In a deep dive session, participants will also learn what exactly the GXFS components offer for building Gaia-X ecosystems.
Free and Open Source Community on site
Experts and contributors of the FOSS-Community surrounding Gaia-X will give the audience insights into who is driving Gaia-X forward on a technical level. Among others, XFSC Eclipse Lead Steffen Schulze, Kai Meinke, representative of the Gaia-X OSS Community and Cristina Pauna, Community Manager at Gaia-X AISBL will talk about this.
Attendees can also look forward to exciting project pitches that showcase how various projects are incorporating and leveraging GXFS components in their technical concepts.
The first day of the conference will be rounded off with drinks and finger food at the Gaia-X Roadshow powered by eco evening event. Participants will enjoy and review the day together during an informal networking event in a late summer atmosphere with the Gaia-X Community.
Focus on GXFS implementation strategies
The next morning, two inspiring keynotes will open the conference. Afterwards, attendees will get an update on the activities of the various, European Gaia-X Hubs when Jan Fischer, Head of the German Gaia-X Hub, explores the question: what role do the Gaia-X Hubs play in supporting the development of data ecosystems?
This will be followed by the presentation of the delta study on GXFS implementation strategies by Dr. Jens Böcker, who implemented the survey as part of the GXFS-DE project. In the connected panel, the audience will hear from Gaia-X projects on how GXFS implementation can succeed and what challenges need to be overcome together and what progress has been made since the first study was published in 2022. Moderator Vivien Witt from eco will talk to representatives of the Gaia-X funded projects Marispace-X, Merlot and Gaia-X4ROMS, among others.
eco Chairman of the Board Oliver Süme and Prof. Dr. Beatrix Weber from the Gaia-X project iECO will then discuss legal issues surrounding Gaia-X together with Pierre Gronlier, CTO Gaia-X AISBL. An afternoon panel will clarify the question: how does trust work between participants in a digital ecosystem? Afterwards, everyone will have the chance to experience and get to know the Gaia-X lighthouse projects such as Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility and EuProGiant live on stage.
GXFS Tech Workshop #3: Showcasing the GXFS FOSS Community
In parallel to the main conference, a GXFS Tech Workshop will take place for interested participants at Villa Elisabeth. The results of the GXFS Tech Workshop #3 will be presented by Lauresha Memeti from eco together with the participants to crown the end of the conference. The workshop for programmers offers the opportunity to try out the GXFS components and to exchange ideas with the FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) community around GXFS-DE.
“Let’s shape the future data infrastructure together – secure, open and transparent!” – with this motto, GXFS Connect 2023 will once again offer numerous opportunities for participants to network and engage in conversation.
