Gaia-X had a strong presence with its booth at this year’s show, attracting interest from government and industry.
June 8, 2022 – Brussels, Belgium: Gaia-X, an organization that promotes data sovereignty, had an exhibition space from May 30 to June 2, 2022 at Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial trade show, which attracted more than 75,000 visitors with 2,500 exhibits and over 8,000 products and solutions.
Hannover Messe saw overwhelming participation from industry players, startups, and multinational companies that fully shared the organization’s vision and roadmap for Europe. Gaia-X, in collaboration with the Gaia-X Federation Services (GXFS) project, was present with its own booth, which attracted the interest of ministers, government officials, industry representatives and visitors and stimulated lively conversations.
“Hannover Messe is one of the most incredible industrial shows in the world. It is a great platform for the industry to meet and showcase their innovations, visions and concrete results. We are pleased to see Gaia-X leading the way in digital sovereignty and concrete innovations that will further advance the digital economy,” said Francesco Bonfiglio, CEO of Gaia-X.
Max Ahrens, CTO of T-Systems and Gaia-X and Chairman of the Board, emphasized, “The industry is undergoing a massive digital transformation and we are very proud that Gaia-X has become a trusted partner to lead this transformation and create an open, interoperable and transparent environment for data exchange.”
During Hannover Messe, GXFS presented a first portal preview with Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) login, based on wallet technology. A recent whitepaper on the use of SSI in the context of GXFS can be viewed here. Andreas Weiss, Head of Digital Business Models, eco Verband and leader of the Gaia-X Federation Services project, summed up: “GXFS makes an important contribution to making Gaia-X operational. There was a clear consensus at Hannover Messe. We need to maintain the current momentum to advance the data-driven economy based on Gaia-X principles with clear guidance and ease of entry, especially for small and medium enterprises.”
Gaia-X remains true to its vision of creating an open and transparent digital economy based on European values and standards, while not stopping at national borders. Dominik Rohrmus, Interim COO of Gaia-X, said, “The show has been a catalyst to spark conversations on this topic, and we’ve seen an incredible response from attendees who want to be part of this journey with Gaia-X.”
In addition to the Gaia-X and GXFS joint booth, the Hannover Messe also featured the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA) booth, represented in particular by the BDVA, FIWARE and IDSA organizations.
